Beef Quality Assurance

Beef Quality Assurance is a nationally coordinated and state implemented program that is funded through the beef checkoff.  BQA provides guidelines for beef cattle production and raises consumer confidence through offering proper management techniques and a commitment to quality within every segment of the beef industry.

The efforts of BQA across the nation have been instrumental in recent successes that continue to re-build and sustain beef demand.  Through BQA programs, farmers and ranchers recognize the economic value of committing to quality beef production at every level - not just at the feedlot or packing plant, but within every segment of the cattle industry.

BEEF QUALITY ASSURANCE

IN-PERSON TRAINING & RECERTIFICATION

Cattle producers who obtained Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) certification ahead of the 2019 packer requirement are now due for recertification. If you certification was obtained more than 3 years ago, it has expired. To help producers renew their BQA certification and to ensure Michigan cattle can be marketed for full value, the Michigan Beef Industry Commission, in partnership with the MSU Extension Beef Team will be coordinating in-person BQA Training and Recertification classes. These classes are for those needing 1st time BQA certification or those needing recertification. On-site testing will be included.
